The Truth is in the pudding, or in this case, the coffee
Located in the Heart of Cape Town’s bustling and vibrant CBD lays the “Holy Grail” of coffee shops. The smell of freshly roasted coffee fills the street with a dark and seductive scent that lures you to their front door.
Greeted by the friendly doorman you walk into the magical wonderland of steam, golden metal pipes and lots of coffee. The shop brings that steampunk theme to the forefront with their incredible décor and barista outfits.
The menu is presented as a newspaper which adds to the ambiance of the café. You choose how you like your coffee: Flat white, espresso, americano…. you get the idea. There after there is an array of different types of coffees roasted and perfectly by Truth. Your waiter can help you make the decision on what coffee is best for your taste. The coffee is brewed to perfection and needs no addition of sugar – it is perfect as it.
On the food menu there is a lot of options. From delicious and freshly baked pastries to delicate and thought-out dishes, perfectly balanced and plated beautifully. We couldn’t resist the sound of their Café du Salmon which comprised of coffee smoke salmon, poached in butter served with blinis, red onion and traces of fennel bulb laced in sour cream with lemon picked cucumber and trout caviar. Not a dish one would think to find in a coffee shop.
Truth was an experience, and blew us away with their incredible atmosphere, great service, awesome food and probably the best coffee South Africa has to offer.
